Collegiate Panorama
Buena Vista Colorado, with the Collegiate Peaks in the background. It was great to finally get up to the mountains after being home from a long absence. It was a cloudy day, but one can still salvage some decent photos from days like this. I'm happy with how this turned out, after the initial out of camera images looking so flat. This is a 7 image stitch. I almost think I like the color version better. The final step I applied here, after using a few of the Nik Software plug ins, was a graduated neutral density filter. To be fair, I should have had one on the camera, but I was using a polarizer at least. Software to the rescue... The GND really made the sky more dramatic and finished this image nicely.
It's been some time since I posted here, life has been busy since getting back home. I finally got out to do some shooting (serious shooting that is) with my new D3s. It was a cloudy day, the type of day many people don't like to shoot in. I love to defy conventional wisdom. I think the results here are pretty good. The old standby for cloudy day shooting. Black and White. This worked out pretty well, it sort of came out looking like a very old photo of Colorado. I almost think I like the color version better.
Sunrise, but no color. I wanted to see what the color version with the rich tones it had would look like in B&W. Equally rich.
